PRC Scholarship Award for High School Seniors
The Parent Relocation Council Foundation was established by the Parent Relocation Council to recognize and reward community members and students who contribute public service and good works to their communities. The Parent Relocation Council Foundation's goal is to recognize, publicize and celebrate community member's passion for good works, which benefits the communities and schools where they live, work, and raise families. The Parent Relocation Council Scholarship Fund assists students who have demonstrated success in overcoming difficulties during their family's relocation.
Eligibility Requirements
- Have moved locally or nationally within the past five years. Students must have relocated to or within a service area of the Parent Relocation Council
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Current or recent high school student who plans to pursue their post-secondary education as a full-time student at a four-year university, a community college, or a vocational/trade school
- Students must have participated in community service and/or extracurricular activities
Essay Topic
In 500 words or less, please address the following:
- What challenges did you experience in relocating to your new area? How were you able to overcome those challenges/obstacles?
- What are your overall goals and aspirations? How do you plan to attain those goals/aspirations?
Application Information
Average Amount Awarded:
Depending upon availability and the applicant pool, awards may range from $500 to $2,500 each, and may be disbursed over multiple years.
Number Awarded:
Up to one award may be granted in each service area of the Parent Relocation Council. For tax purposes, awards are paid to both the student and school to ensure proper usage of funds. Recipients are selected without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, handicap, or national origin.
Applications Available:
Applications for the next round of scholarships will be accepted between September 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009.
